Leading The Industry
To prevent structural damage, as set out by the British Standard Institute (BS EN 15004-1:2019), server rooms require a form of pressure relief and post discharge extract.
We offer world-leading fire rated pressure relief dampers (PRDs), combined fire extinguishant and pressure relief dampers, post discharge fire extinguishant extract units, as well as marine certified dampers.
Puma Fire is certified to Exova Warrington Fire EWCL5 scheme and audited by BM Trada, ensuring our products are independently tested and assessed with full traceability. We are based in the South of England and our warehouse is equipped to deliver orders quickly to anywhere in the world.
Our sister company, , provides solutions for all HVAC requirements
Setting Standards
Puma Fire Founder Phillip Newton campaigned the British Standard Institute to successfully include the need for a form of pressure relief alongside gas extract as a regulatory requirement. Since 1999 sealed rooms shall have ‘venting provided to prevent excessive over-or under-pressurization of the enclosure’ (BS EN 15004-1:2019)(5.3)(h) as well as ‘means for prompt natural or forced-draft ventilation of such areas after any discharge of extinguishant’ (BS EN 15004-1:2019)(7.4.1). We continue to advise on the technical committee of the British Standards Institute as required.
Combining Pressure Relief and Post Discharge Gas Extract
Following the invention of the Pressure Relief Damper, we designed and developed our dual offering — the Combined Fire Extinguishant and Pressure Relief Damper. Through one unit it is now possible to vent excessive room pressure to atmosphere and extract the remaining gases or toxic fumes post discharge. This product has become increasingly popular as it addresses two building requirements in one and requires only one hole to be created instead of two, therefore saving on building costs. Combined FE/PRD units are available for Inert and Synthetic gas systems, in a large range of sizes.
Taking to The Seas
Puma Fire’s Pressure Relief Dampers all incorporate a Self Closing Door (SCD). This unique section has affectionately been referred to as the cat flap! We found this feature provided an effective seal against external elements, preventing wind, rain, and dirt from entering a protected enclosure, as well as providing an effective sound barrier. We looked at where these extreme conditions are experienced the most. The answer – coastal and offshore environments such as ships/frigates, oil/gas rigs, and wind farms. The solution – a stainless steel version of our pressure relief dampers to withstand the harsh and aggressive effects of salt water.
Puma Fire is the only company to incorporate a self-shutting, self-sealing door, and is currently the world’s only manufacturer of stainless steel marine certified dampers. Our range has been successfully tested to IMO MSC (88) FTP code 2010, achieving H0 in a H60 bulkhead… a world’s first!
We are proud to have the royal stamp of approval as HMS Queen Elizabeth and HMS Prince of Wales aircraft carriers both feature this product.
