Against the Elements
Puma Fire is proud to be the world’s only manufacturer of stainless steel marine certified dampers. This 316L stainless steel version of our Pressure Relief Damper has been built to withstand the harsh and aggressive effects of salt water, making it perfect for coastal and offshore environments.
Our marine certified dampers have been installed on HMS Queen Elizabeth and HMS Prince of Wales aircraft carriers and on many oil tankers, frigates and oil/gas rigs all over the world.
Protecting Sea Vessels
As with all of our Pressure Relief Dampers, our marine grade option incorporates our Self Closing Door (SCD) or “cat flap”. This unique part provides an effective seal against external elements, preventing wind, rain and dirt entering the protected enclosure, whilst also providing an effective sound barrier. In shipping, vessels will inevitably be subject to a pitch and rolling effect of the oceans. Our SCDs stay shut using a strong magnetic catch, and will only release when a high pressure occurs. When used on a constantly moving ships, the release pressure can be adjusted to accommodate the additional forces.

SCD Design and Development
Where there is also possible risk of an external explosion, such as in areas where flammable gases or batteries are stored, the SCD can be manufactured from 3mm reinforced stainless steel. This will ensure the delicate equipment within the room is not affected.
